Blue Mountain Travels and Toursvisit Blue Mountain Travel and Tours web site Before 1951 Nepal was inaccessible to foreign tourists, and until 1964, travel to this wonderful and mystical land, was exclusively an attraction for the hardy climbers and explorers of the unimaginable. In recent years with the advent of tourism programs and several air linkage with the outside world, travels to this land of adventure has become most coveted for all kinds of travellers. The immense contrasts in altitudes and climates found here support an equally spectacular mix of lifestyles and wildlife. Trekking in Nepal is as much a cultural experience as a Himalayan Adventure. In the shadows and foothills of the icy pinnacles of the Himalayas, one passes picturesque charming villages inhabited by diverse ethnic groups. Treks vary from expeditions, high altitude treks to simple easy paced walks. In its immensely diverse and undulating topography, varied climate and mix of people combine to produce a magical attraction for outsiders. Many of these foreign visitors come to trek one or more of the many beautiful trekking regions now opened by HMG. Discover more about Nepal...
For many of our treks, you can choose between camping and staying in Mountain lodges, which are locally run guesthouses, but standards vary enormously. In the popular areas, such as Annapurna, lodges are more like hotels, with hot water, Western food, and private rooms, in more remote areas; they are far simpler and more authentically Nepalese. Mountain Lodge trekking is less expensive than camping, and is suitable for smaller groups. With larger groups, irrespective of the area, it is more practical to camp. We provide all the necessary camping equipment dining and toilet tents plus our guides, porters and cooks, you trek in comfort with Western food of a high standard. Easy treks involve up to 6 hours of walking a day, on good trails with plenty of time for sightseeing. Altitudes generally do not exceed 3500 metres. Anyone who enjoys regular exercise and is in good physical condition should easily cope with these treks. Moderate treks involve walking for 6 to 8 hours a day in more remote country, reaching altitudes of approximately 4500 metres. A reasonable level of fitness is required as there will be much ascent and descent with the occasional difficult day. A hill walking background is advisable. Demanding treks are harder, suitable for regular hill walkers as they are generally more demanding and may involve 7 or 8 hour days, with altitudes up to 5500 metres. You should be physically fit and appropriate preparation is essential. Some days may involve crossing a pass with up to 10 hours walking.
